Sheila

In the haze of this devastation, life lessons begin to emerge;
Profound sadness begets self reflection, and emotions start to purge.
Sheila had always been the friend who encouraged and inspired,
Her positivity exceeded her illness, though she was depleted and tired.
In Sheila's last days her earthly body was weak;
But her faith and wisdom were resolved and complete.
I was stunned and in awe at the strength she displayed,
Her courage was steadfast, as loved ones vigilantly prayed.
But instead of succumbing to weakness and fear, Sheila fought a brave fight, knowing her mission was clear.
Her life had touched many, her death would pierce more,
Strength was her only option, and that's what her FAITH was for.
I will never forget the night, she declared from her hospital bed,"Lord, let my life be a testament to others." I wept for what she said.
The last night I saw Sheila, I prayed to myself;
God use my words for your glory, and nothing else.
I held her hand gently, and looked in her eyes,
I told her I loved her, then started to cry.
A force came over me; that was not of my own,
I found strength in her hand, where I had none alone.
I assured her that night, her declaration was true,
Her life WAS a testament and a changing force to all she knew.
